The Sixteen Hour Day

by Richard Haxton

Hail the invention of the sixteen hour day
It is our intention to give you more time to play

by Richard Haxton

You get a ten day week instead of seven
Every third week leap week that’s eleven
So you can work five days eight hours a day
And take five days off just to spend your pay
Let them be fooled when the day is done
Let them be ruled by the rising sun
Don’t worry if you don’t see your family
Don’t worry if they think you’re gone mentally
Don’t worry if you lose touch with all your friends
Cuz their day is ending when yours begins
They’ll all come around you can depend
When they see how easy the rules can bend

They’ll hail the invention of the sixteen hour day
It is our intention to give you more time to play

Them circadian slaves used to treat you like a fool
You got your extra days. You can send ‘em on back to school
Now nobody tells you when it’s time to go or stay
No way they’ll take your sixteen hour day away
