Dragons Love to Dance

by Richard Haxton

They’re traveling in a foreign land
When thieves surround the caravan
Throw down your goods we’ll kill you quick
Say no we’ll kill you slow
An old explorer ties his horse
He has no plan. He’s set no course
And he knows the stakes are big
So he dances an Irish jig

He holds out his hands palms facing up
The head thief growls, he’s looking tough
He throws his sword upon the ground
And starts to dance around
The old man does his steps again
The thief shakes his head and starts to grin
Without a thought of fight or flight
They drink and dance all night

And with the coming of the day
Each group goes its separate way
When things look bad take a chance
Cuz dragons love to dance
